At Blackdog Recording Studios, every type of project is considered of equal importance. Preparation is the key, so consultation with us is highly encouraged. Blackdog can prepare a customized estimate based on the specific information given prior to your session date. All quoted rates include the engineer, the use of the studio, and any equipment utilized.

In the old days of analog recording, clients used to have to purchase their very expensive session master tapes, but nowadays, we store sonic information on relatively inexpensive hard drives and recordable media. We will automatically backup your session data on 4 gigabyte DVDr disks, but for ultimate safekeeping, this process should be doubled so that both the studio and the client have a matching copy. For larger projects, we recommend purchasing your own external FireWire or USB hard drive for data storage. Backing up your work is an essential part of the recording experience and will be billed accordingly. However, backups are officially YOUR property. Blackdog Recording Studios are not responsible for any loss or damage to your files.

On-location Recording

(2-16 tracks) $99 per hour
(17-24 tracks) $199 per hour


CD’s: $5.00 Each + NYS Sales tax

Archiving your session data

We back up every session to CD-R or DVD, test it, and will be happy to archive it for you*.

Blackdog Media Group, LLC is not responsible for files left unattended past 30 days of your session or not currently maintained with our annual archiving plan. Masters are legally your property and we are not responsible for loss or damage. If you're doing an entire album, we strongly suggest that you purchase an external Firewire or USB2 drive, as an extra backup and take it home with you after every session. Backing up the session is part of the recording experience and will be billed accordingly.
